Ahamada Washaki, the Mbale Resident City Commissioner (RCC) has ordered for the immediate arrest of a CID Officer identified as Mugabi who connived with a Umeme officer identified as Elweru and allegedly extorted from locals.
The two reportedly extorted Shs1m from residents of Sironko District.
The two men Mafabi Ronald and Wamulira Simon were reportedly arrested over power theft in Sironko and driven to Mbale City to be detained there.
Then after they were asked to pay Shs1m for them to be released which they did after mortgaging land.
However, they sought assistance from the RCC who compelled the officers to pay back the money which Money has been used as an ‘exhibit’ against them.
In the same development, police have arrested at detained its own officers who arrested a power thief who is now missing.
In Mbale District, a man by the name of Musamali David is missing after UMEME Officers together with police arrested him at his shop in Lwankoli Cell where he has been operating.
It’s alleged that they ambushed him yesterday at his shop on allegations that his landlord was stealing power.
They didn’t even give him a chance to close his shop and last night his property was all stolen from the shop.
UpTo now his family doesn’t know his whereabouts. His family is calling for justice.
