On Thursday this week, the Parliamentary Forum for Labour, Decent Employment and Productivity (UPFLDEP) and Housing Finance bank will co-host a breakfast meeting on the Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) at Serena Kigo, in Entebbe.
The meeting, which will be graced by Hon. Henry Musasizi, the Minister of State for Finance in charge of General Duties will be organized under the theme: Foreign Direct Investment: An Untapped Opportunity for Economic Recovery.
It will run between 9 am and 12 pm and will be broadcasted live here on YouTube Channel @DaParrot TV and timely updates on all our social media platforms including Twitter: @DaParrot_ and Facebook: DaParrot 256 and detailed coverage on our website: www.daparrot.com.
The meeting will according to Joshua Laban Musinguzi, the Coordinator (UPFLDEP), target the over 1.7 million Ugandans working from overseas.
“The whole discussion will be around ways we can grow our economy through various revenue streams, we have Ugandans who have been out of the Country for over even 20 years and would need to repatriate money back at home,” he said added.
At Shs100,000 you can also join the meeting which will be held at Serena Kigo, in Entebbe. There is also a table at Shs1,000,000 and you can book for reservations by clicking here.
During the meeting, entrepreneurs will be able to meet with potential investors in the labor sector both in and out of Uganda.
Uganda’s FDI has increased from 0$ in 1986 to $1.6Bn (2.3%) in 2021, and this has the potential of growing more than this.
“Our major target investors are Ugandans working in overseas countries but we shall be open to all other investors because our major aim is to bring people who will make investments, create jobs for Ugandans, and improve lives,” Musinguzi told our reporter last week.
As an entrepreneur, this meeting will be crucial to your business because there will be potential investors who will be available to talk business and put in funds, especially at this time when the country is grappling with economic hardships.
Other speakers who will grace the meeting include; Mr. Michael Mugabi, the Managing Director of Housing Finance Bank, Badiru Ntege, the Executive Director of NFT Consults, and Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyinji, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Youth and Gender Affairs, Hon. Prossy Akampulira, the Vice Chairperson of UPFLDEP and a Commissioner to Parliament, and Mr. Arnold Bagubwagye, the Deputy Director in Charge of Financial Markets at Bank of Uganda.
