Russian president Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory message to President Museveni after Uganda made 60 years since it attainaled it’s independence.

“Please accept congratulations on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the declaration of independence of your country. Russian-Ugandan relations have been traditionally friendly,” reads part of the letter.

“I am confident that further development of constructive bilateral cooperation in different areas meets the fundamental interests of our peoples and is in line with consolidating stability and security on the African continent,”

His message come at a time when Russia is looking for allies after falling apart with US over Ukraine war.

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba recently warned USA and her allies to desist from attacking Russia, since an attack on Uganda is an attack on the entire country.

“I wish you good health and every success and all citizens of Uganda peace and prosperity. Respectfully yours,” the letter adds.

While speaking at the celebrations held at Kolololo Ceremonial Grounds on Sunday, Museveni further castigated the European Union whom he said are working against the development of East Africa, after the recent resolutions on East African Crude Oil Pipeline.
