President Yoweri Museveni has pledged a sum of Sh200m towards the construction of a Shs1.5Bn multi-purpose playground by the Uganda Christian University Mbale Campus.

Washaki, in his individual capacity as the RCC of Mbale City also applauded UCU for supporting the education sector by bringing out such a great initiative.
The playground which will house a parking lot of over 300 vehicles, studios, shopping malls, gymnastics, and so forth, is expected to be the first of its kind and will be constructed at Mugisu Hill, near Nabuyonga Primary School.

In the message read to the congregation during the launch of the fundraising of this multi-billion project, Museveni wahoo represented by Ahamada Washiaki said that he will contribute Shs200m towards this great cause.

This has been done to enable the University, to benefit from the three university goals of teaching and learning, research and publications, and community engagement,

Merry Manana the principal ICU said that the fundraising is to help raise funds for computers, university buses, and the complex playground not only for athletics but also for other healthy activities for the fitness of the people.

Dr. Higenyi Secretary of the University said that they also intend to expand the computer laboratory so that they can open it out to the general public to come and gain skills.

In his speech, Robert Magomu, the University Sports Director said that this is to help promote sports and also awaken talents among youths through engaging the community at large and reduce on the number of idol youths in the city.
