Two Alshabab militants gunned down

Soldiers attached to ATMIS on Thursday night shot dead two Alshabab militants at Beledamin-Lower Shabelle.

Beledamin is an agricultural area 82km Southwest of Mogadishu in Lower Shabelle under the control of UPDF.

Maj Peter Mugisa, the public information officer of the Uganda Contingent said in a press statement that the force in addition recovered two Submachine Guns (SMGs) and 06 Magazines with 130 rounds of ammunition were charged.

“The splinter group of Alshabaab militants have been extorting illegal taxes and food items from farmers,” he said adding that “the loss of their fighters is a relief to civilians who have grappled with violent criminal acts meted out by Alshabaab terrorists,”
