Newton Wang’oo, the Board Chairperson of the Kenya Transporters Association (KTA) has rallied all transporters to lead the Country’s journey to normalize.
For over a week now, Kenyans had an election holiday, to decide the next president.
William Ruto in this case appeared he winner with 7.1 million votes, beating his closet rival Raila Odinga with 6.9 votes.
“In all democratic competitions there must be winners and losers. Our constitution provides a dispute resolution path through the courts justice system for the aggrieved parties. Transporters should lead the way in returning the country to normalcy,” Wang’oo said in a statement.
“We therefore wish to ask and recommend that all transporters who have not resumed operations to do so with effect from 17th August 2022,” he added.
Wang’oo in a statement said that the security agents have “assured us of safety and security along the highways and they are on standby incase there are incidences,”
“KRA has agreed to our request to geofence the route from Mombasa – Mau Summit Eldoret Kanduyi Mayoni Busia Border,” he said
“This is to give more options to transporters during this period. We do not expect any disturbances and we will keep you informed if any incidences are reported,” hee noted.
