On Tuesday this week, the National Drug Authority (NDA) broke the unpleasant and shocking news of the “fake arcaricides” that are being manufactured and promoted by Pastor Robert Kayanja.
Tickoff as named is manufactured by CPM Wave which is co-owner by Pastor Kayanja and his partners including Marvin Mukasa and Clinton James.
Abiaz Rwamwiri, the spokesperson of the NDA said that these *crooks* claimed to have a team of scientists from Makerere University School of Veterinary Medicine who were lead investigators.
“Pastor Kayanja is on record announcing that he, together with his other accomplices had come up with an “incredible organic” product that kills ticks instantly,” Rwamwiri said.
Thou he hasn’t been arrested, Rwamwiri said NDA is working with police to hold Pastor Kayanja and his accomplices accountable for their criminal acts.
The Deadly Substances in the Drugs
According to Rwamwiri, all the samples that were taken from Tickoff, tested positive of contamination with dangerous and banned chemicals that include;
Among these are; DIAZINON; a highly concentrated fumigant used to kill bedbugs, bats and termites,
FIPRONIL; a spray banned for food producing animals because of long withdrawal period due to the potential risks it could have on human health and, BENALAXYL; a systemic fungicide which is carcinogenic (Cancer causing potentials).
Rwamwiri said that above chemicals, he noted were being mixed with animal-feeds and “mukene” and packaged without any expertly date, ingredient information or warning.
“After disclosing to Pastor Kayanja that his product was a counterfeit, he has since closed all communication channels and instead tried to blackmail our teams,” he said.
“Pastor Kayanja and his team declined to disclose the ingredients of the product but NDA working with Uganda Police impounded over 100 samples from his church stores and took them to both NDA and Government Chemist Laboratories,” he said
Rwamwiri warned the public especially from the districts of Kiruhura, Lyantonde, Sembabule, Gomba, Isingiro, and parts of Karamoja among others where this product has been distributed are strongly against using “TICKOFF”.
It’s criminal to supply restricted drugs with wrong container and labels, which is contrary to section 25 (a) and (b) NDP & A Act Cap 206 Laws of Uganda and Possession of classified drugs, contrary to section 27 (2) and section 60 of NDP&A Act Cap 206 Laws of Uganda.
If arrested Pastor Kayanja and his partners will further be charged with possession of classified drugs contrary section 27 (2) of UNDPA Act andSupply of impure drugs contrary section 30 of UNDPA Act, well as carrying out a business of pharmacist without a license contrary to contrary section 14 (3) of UNDPA Act
“NDA condemns in the strongest possible terms the actions of Pastor Kayanja for using his advantaged position to take lure desperate farmers when Uganda is faced with a challenge of tick-resistance. His intention was not only criminal but also intended to cheat Ugandans,” Rwamwiri said adding,
“We hereby direct all farmers who had received supplies for product to drop at any police station for easy collection,”
Speaking to BBS TV on Wednesday, Pastor Kayanja denied NDA’s allegations and promised to sue them for tarnishing his name.
