The State Minister for Elderly Dominic Mafabi Gidudu commissioned a 2.3 billion shillings Buteza seed secondary school in Buwira Village, Bumirisa parish, Namugabwe Sub County in Sironko District, constructed by Bam construction and surveyors and funded by World Bank. This is the 12th government secondary school and the first of its kind in the district.

Wandga Mike a parent said this will motivate their students to stay at school because many of their children have been dropping out of school due to long distances.

Nakayanze Joy a mother of five noted that some of the girls in the sub-county could stop in primary school and end up in marriages.
The headmaster of the school Mr. Guwodo Zadoch noted that they had poor buildings with few classes but we thank the government for this new project.

We were having around 200 students but since the opening of the new classrooms, we have so far registered over 700 students and more are still coming,” Guwodo said.

Mr. Moses Nambale the DEO Sironko district said the district has around 112 primary schools with a population of around 84000 pupils but with only 12 secondary schools which made many pupils end up in primary because they couldn’t fit in the few secondary schools in the district.

Meanwhile, State Minister Domenic said, the government has taken efforts to improve the education sector in the country.

The state minister noted that the government is committed to ensuring there’s a secondary school in every Sub County.

He added that the government will construct 256 seed schools in sub-counties where there is no secondary school across the country.
