Old Passports to Become Invalid on April 4, Only Returning Ugandans to Use

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has said that old Passports will with effective April 4, apply to only Ugandans who are returning to the country.

The ministry said that as the deadline for phase-out of the Machine-Readable Passports (MRP) on 4th April 2022 is approached, all Ugandans living in the diaspora should know that MRPS will only be used by citizens returning back to Uganda.

They will not be used to travel to other countries,” Maj Gen Apollo Kasiita-Gowa, the Director Citizenship and Immigration Control said in a February 18, Public Notice

All Ugandans are further encouraged to apply for their e-Passports online at www.immigration.go.ug as we approach the deadline,” he added
