The family of Mr. Micheal Nakimesi, a national forestry officer in Mbale district on Sunday woke up in grief after the untimely passing away of his oldest son Emmanuel Wamono.
Wamono, who was a 3rd year engineering student at Makerere University allegedly met his death on Saturday evening by drowning at Mountain Inn Hotel owned by Budadiri West MP Hon. Nathan Mandala Mafabi.
Upon leaving Kampala on February 4, for his two weeks holiday, Wamono together with his cousins went to this hotel to have some recreation.


“He decided to go for some swimming and after a couple of good hours, the cousins started looking for Emma but he wasn’t spotted anywhere at the hotel premises,” an Eyewitness told Freeman News Website on Sunday morning.

In another account, an Eyewitness who happened to be Wamono’s relative said in an audio obtained by DaParrot that the hotel management neglected the deceased leading to his untimely death.
“When he fell in the swimming pool, his tried looking for him, rushed to the hotel management attendant and informed them that Emma was no where to be seen yet he had gone to swim. They just allegedly ignored saying that he might have gone to see his girlfriend later the search was conducted and they found his clothes then later his lifeless body,” she said.
Few minutes DaParrot Breaking the story, Makerere University Dean of Students Winfred Kabumbuli released a statement where she admitted that Wamono had indeed drowned in Mbale.
“The deceased drowned while trying to save a child in a swimming pool in Mbale,”

As both Elgon Police and Hotel management remains tight lipped on the matter, questions continue to emerge sorrounding Wamono’s mysterious death.
- If this young man was indeed saving a baby (child), then what happened to the child?
- How did the child end up in the pool?
- How did a ‘good swimmer’ drown in a just 7.5ft swimming pool?
- Where were the parents of this child?
- Above all, where was the attendant of the swimming pool? because every swimming pool at any hotel must have an attendant as long as it’s open.
Police is yet to issue a comprehensive report explaining some of these questions.
