EC announces Dates for Women Council Elections

The Electoral Commission(EC) has announced dates for the women council elections starting early June this year.

In a statement released on Saturday, February 19, Paul Bukenya, the EC spokesperson said that having exhausted their term in office the council needed new leadership as per Ugandan Constitution under the National Women’s Council Act.

The term of the said office is 4 years thus expiring in August 2022.

The electoral commission wishes to remind Ugandans that the current women council and committees that were elected in a period June- August 2018 are due August 2022.

Adding that the commission has accordingly approved the program from village to National level.
