As DaParrot made one year on September 14, we were happy to learn that our Reporting has already started creating a positive impact on society.

Among the positive testimonies we received is the one of Milly Namusisi, the mother of Margaret Nabulya, a Ugandan housemaid in Saudi Arabia who had been put under house arrest by her tyrant employer.

Nabulya had allegedly been raped by her employer but later ran away, we met her crying mother in Kampala and ran a story that rescued her.

Following the story, the government led by Laban Joshua Musingunzi, the Coordinator of the Parliamentary Forum for Labour, Decent Employment, and Productivity swung into action and rescued her.

In the twist of events, a few weeks later a certain Online TV dubbed Kadama TV ran a fraudulent video claiming that Nabulya had got problems and is in need of Shs5M.

Namusisi contacted the management of DaParrot, who immediately ran a story that scared the fraudsters and they deleted the video.

In a fake YouTube Video (That has since been deleted,) that was circulating on social media, the operators of one Online TV dubbed Kadama TV that was posted on June 15, a disgruntled lady who m the presenter identifies as Nabulya according to the photo is heard crying for help,

In the video, the lady says that she has worked for two years and when her Contract expired, her Bosses verbally negotiated with her for an extension which they didn’t do in writing.

“I want to go home and see my sick father but the employer asked me to raise Shs5M for my Air Ticket which I don’t have,” she cried out.

The Presenter who talks in a rough voice is then heard launching a Fundraising campaign on his Ugandan Based MTN Number 256776965256

However, speaking to DaParrot, yesterday, Namusis said that the purported fraudsters had contacted her, apologized, and deleted the video immediately.

“I thank the management of DaParrot for your timely interventions, I pray that you don’t get tired of me because I will continue seeking your help,” she said

Namusisi while contacted to know the condition of her daughter described DaParrot as a God-sent Angel.

“You saved my daughter, I thank you, may God Bless You!” she said

Yassin Sokuton, the Chief Executive Officer of DaParrot Media Company said that the company will continue to offer media services that are entailed solution-based journalism to uplift people’s standards and rights.
