Josephine Akia Luyimbazi the Country Coordinator of the Participatory Ecological Land Use Management Uganda (PELUM UG) has tasked the youths to stop lamenting about not having job opportunities, but instead get themselves involved in the agroecology business.
Akia says they are tired of youths lamenting over and over again about the situation they are in of not having jobs adding that old people are not retiring and they take on those positions.
“We can’t build the future for the youths, but they can build a youth for the future and this can be best done if the youths get involved in agroecology,” she said.
She made these remarks at Eureka hotel Ntinda, where PELUM UG was hosting youths in agroecology business and learning exchange.

This project aims at increasing business viable opportunities for the youths in agroecology by empowering them by linking them to mentors within agroecology and also giving them skills and information when it comes to agroecology as a practice.
The event has been attended by young entrepreneurs, business mentors/experts, business development partners, financial institutions, and the government.
Meanwhile, Akia says this project has enabled the youths to love agroecology and be able to venture into agro entrepreneurship and agrotourism.
Rosette Bamwine, the Head of the Agricultural Credit Facility Division at the Bank of Uganda advised the youths to apply for the ACF fund which is interest friendly and accessible to all.
