Sheikh Imran Ssali, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC Secretary For Dawah (Islamic Propagation & Preaching) has urged parents particularly Muslims to prepare Children for the planned reopening of educational Institutions in early January 2022.

This comes almost two years since the government imposed a nationwide shutdown of schools as one of the COVID-19 containment measures.

In his Friday sermon at the National Mosque in Old Kampala, Sheikh Ssali also called upon parents to pray, counsel and talk to their children about the importance of education since some of them have already joined the field of employment.

“Show them parental love and care and demonstrate to them that no one can love them better than you,” Sheikh Ssali said. He reminded parents to choose the schools that teach both secular and Islamic studies because education without religion is so challenging in this current contemporary and competitive world.

Turning to school managers, teachers Sheikh Ssali passionately advised them to make education centres enjoyable that promote morality and appealed for mutual understanding with parents in regard to the payments of school dues because of the prevailing hardships resulting from the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He advised children who will be returning to school to utilise their time efficiently and be ambitious to study so that they are useful to their families and communities.

In attendance were His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, Hon. Ramathan Mugalu UMSC Secretary-General, two visiting guests Hon. Haj. Hassan Hussein, the Somali Defence Minister, Special Envoy from the Republic Of Ethiopia, UMSC Members of the Management and Senior Sheikhs among many others.
