SCP Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson on Monday told reporters at Police Headquarters in Naguru, that the president directed the Inspector General of Police Mr. Martin Okoth Ochola to put back these roadblocks with immediate effect.
“With guidance from President Kaguta Museveni, the IGP has instructed the Director of Operations to reinstate all police roadblocks and checkpoints,” Enanga said.
Enanga said that criminals have used the vacuum created by the removal of roadblocks to terrorise citizens.
This come at a time when police is battling with unknown criminals who are attacking their posts, killing, injuring their officers and taking their guns.
The directive also come few weeks when the the country is preparing for the Christmas holiday, where criminals take advantage to rob locals.
Enanga last week urged Ugandans to be vigilant during these days since they attract alot of criminals.
