Mathias Mpuuga the Leader of Opposition has described the late Queen Elizabeth II as a formidable leader who easily adapted and sunk into the modern era.
Queen Elizabeth II died last week, following health complications.
Mpuuga, who today signed the condolence book at the British High Commission on behalf of the Opposition said that Queen Elizabeth II distinguished herself as a world leader and perhaps for many, the longest reigning Queen we have known in our time.
“Amidst the veneration of established customs and guardedness to change, the Queen made multiple concessions in the modern era. She demonstrated formidable ability to adapt to the changing times with a high sense of duty, goodwill, and professionalism,” he said, adding,
“Culture ceased being viewed as relics of primitivity but rather placed at the center of modernity. The success of her reign affirms the validity of cultural institutions in advancing social transformation and development,”
Queen Elizabeth, he said will also be remembered for her unwavering advocacy for the environment which came out well in 2018 with her participation in the making of a nature documentary; The Queen’s Green Planet.
“I also take this opportunity to welcome the reign of King Charles III and at the same time pray that Queen Elizabeth II’s soul rests in eternal peace. Amen,” he said
The deceased queen who was replaced by his son King Charles III will be buried on September 19 in London.
