The Ministry of Health has reassured the public that the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is no longer a threat and has since been put under control
EVD was detected in Uganda on the 20th of September the first case was confirmed at Mubende Referral Hospital.
The ministry has since put preventive measures to reduce and cut down the spread of the deadly disease.
However in a letter dated Friday 7, the Ministry through it’s Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine reaffirmed Ugandans of safety despite the three weeks of mischief.
Dr. Atwine noted that ” the current EVD in the country is under control and anybody with a plan to travel to Uganda are encouraged to continue with their travel plans,”
“All places of conference, workshops, tourists attraction including National Parks are safe both for the local and international community.”
Atwine emphasized that for some time now Uganda and her partners have worked hand in hand to ensure that the required measures to prevent the spread of the disease have been met. This she alluded to the enormously decreasing cases of the virus registered ever since.
“All contacts within the epicenter ( Mubende) and it’s neighboring districts have been identified and since isolated from the community”
According to the MOH statistics, Uganda has since registered a total of 44 confirmed cases with only 10 deaths.
