President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on communities around Kapeeka Industrial Park to fully exploit the opportunities available to market their products and improve their household incomes.

The President made these remarks during the opening of a two-day trade fair at Namunkekera Agro Processing Limited in Kapeeka, Nakaseke District. He praised Gen. Salim Saleh for his foresight in securing land for investment, leading to the development of the industrial park, which has significantly contributed to Uganda’s economic growth.

President Museveni also expressed his gratitude to the investors who responded to his call to invest in Uganda.

At the event, farmers requested financial assistance of UGX 4.4 billion to support their SACCO and boost production capacity. Addressing concerns about land disputes, President Museveni reassured veterans that no one would be forcibly evicted from their land, and pledged to meet with Gen. Salim Saleh to resolve the issues.

Vice President Jessica Alupo commended Kapeeka Industrial Park for its role in supporting Uganda’s import substitution strategy and creating new trade opportunities. She highlighted the contributions of investors towards the country’s economic transformation and praised Gen. Salim Saleh for his patriotism and efforts in realizing the President’s vision for the industrial park.

Hon. Francis Mwebesa, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, lauded President Museveni for his leadership in championing industrialization, which has been key to Uganda’s economic progress.

Minister of State for the Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori Region, Hon. Alice Kaboyo, emphasized the historical significance of Kapeeka, which was once known for conflict but is now an industrial hub thanks to President Museveni’s visionary leadership.

Hon. Evelyn Anite, Minister of State for Investment and Privatization, credited Uganda’s positive economic trajectory to the President’s leadership. She urged Ugandans to embrace the Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU) initiative, which promotes local products to boost national revenue and create jobs. Anite noted that Kapeeka Industrial Park now employs over 15,000 people, helping to reduce unemployment across the region.
