Police urges public to assist in Ntinda shooting investigations

The Kampala Metropolitan Police East region is actively investigating a tragic robbery incident that took place on Tuesday evening at approximately 7pm in Kiwatule central zone, Nakawa division, Kampala city.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy KMP spokesperson, the incident involved Mr. Tugume Albert 34 a mobile money operator who was preparing to close his shop when he was attacked by an armed assailant attempting to steal his cash.

“During the scuffle, a boda boda rider Mr. Sabiti Barnabas 30, tried to intervene but was shot by another assailant waiting nearby,” Owoyesigyire revealed.

Police say that Mr. Tugume tried to flee the scene but was pursued and fatally shot by the suspects, who fled with the bag believed to contain an unspecified amount of cash.

Investigators arrived promptly at the scene collecting critical evidence, including vehicle with registration number UBH 045H that had been damaged by stray bullets.

“Barnabas was rushed to Mulago National Referral hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead,” Owoyesigyire confirmed.

The body of Mr. Tugume was to the city mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem examination.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police has assured the public of their commitment of bringing the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice and has urged anyone with information to assist with the investigation.
