The police have announced an investigation into the alleged shooting and related incidents involving National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed the inquiry following reports that emerged late Tuesday evening, claiming that Kyagulanyi had been shot by police in Bulindo, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to Kituuma, the incident occurred after Hon. Kyagulanyi left a venue and, along with his team, initiated a procession toward Bulindo town.

The police reportedly advised against the procession, but Kyagulanyi and his team proceeded, leading to police intervention to prevent the road from being blocked.

“Despite police guidance, he insisted on proceeding, which led to police action to stop the procession,” Kituuma stated.

During the ensuing altercation, it is alleged that Kyagulanyi sustained injuries. Police officers at the scene claimed he stumbled while entering his vehicle, causing the injury. However, Kyagulanyi and his team maintain that he was shot.

Hon. Kyagulanyi had been invited to Bulindo for a Thanksgiving ceremony by lawyer George Musisi.
