Mbale; Murder Convict Dies in Government Prison

Police in Mbale police are investigating circumstances under which a murder convict, 50-year-old ABudu Omodo died while on remand in Malukhu government prison.

It is alleged that the deceased started vomiting from the cells and was taken to the prison health facility where he was shortly pronounced dead.

Rogers Taitika, police spokesperson Elgon subregion says that statements have so far been recorded from prison leadership to aid investigations into the matter.

We have obtained statements from the leadership of Malukhu prison which will enable us to have a detailed understanding of the death cause,” he said.

By publication of this story, the lifeless body of the deceased had been taken to Mbale City mortuary pending a postmortem.
