Over Eighty held over Insecurity along Northern by-pass, Clocktower

Following continued complaints over insecurity, the Kampala Metropolitan Police carried out a number of targeted operations last week that led to arrests of over a hundred hardcore criminals.

According to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, the arrested have been stealing from pedestrians especially women and children in the evenings, were involved in vandalism of motor vehicles, especially in traffic jam among several other criminal offenses.

“In the course of last week, we arrested 102 hardcore criminals from the various black sports areas at the Northern by-pass flyovers and at the clock tower in the city center” Enanga highlighted.

Among the arrested, 34 were from areas of Namungoona, Masanafu and Kawaala, 5 were from Kyebando Bukoto and Kaleerwe, 28 were from Bwaise and 32 were from the clock tower in the city center.

The police mouthpiece made these remarks while addressing journalists at the weekly security briefing in Kampala on Monday.

In the weekly Monday press briefing, Enanga emphasized that the arrested are held in various Police custody pending Court appearance.
