Police arrest a 28year old for allegedly raping an 85-year-old in Mukono.

Fred Enanga the Police spokesperson has said that they have in custody a 28year old resident of Kirinya village in Kimenyedde town council Mukono district for allegedly causing violence against an elderly person.

Senyange Jamil on August 20 th forcefully gained entry into the house of the 85year old female grandmother who was staying alone in the same village and rapped her about a matter that was later brought to the attention of the LC1 chairperson.

“We deployed the canine which led us to the home of Senyange, but when he learnt that the Police dog was on his door, he refused to open the door but later we managed to arrest him” Enanga explained.

Enanga made these remarks while addressing Journalists at the weekly security briefing held at Police headquarters in Kampala on Monday.
According to the Police Annual Crime Report of 2021, 1,486 cases of rape were registered with a total of 1,396 adult females and 90 female juveniles being the main victims.

The report further pointed out Mukono district a region of Kampala Metropolitan North as one with the highest number of rape cases followed by
Kawempe division in Kampala, Mbarara, and Tororo respectively.

Police strongly condemned this act of elderly violence and advised the public to accord the elderly the respect they deserve as this will help to curb the accumulation of such awful acts.

The Uganda Police mouthpiece also noted that they have arrested and gathered facts of a Senior 4 student of Gulu College School in Gulu district Northern Uganda who is accused of defiling a 3-year-old female.

Lokarach Felix a resident of Gulu police Barracks took this 3-year-old victim to his room and defiled her and all this came to their attention when the victim narrated the incident to the parent.

“When the mother was bathing this young victim, she managed to tell her this story after noticing injuries on her private parts, on notifying the Police we acted quickly, currently this suspect is in our custody charged with aggravated defilement.” Enanga highlighted.
