The award, presented annually by the UK-based Centre of Economic and Leadership Development, recognizes women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership on a global scale.

Nabbanja received the accolade during the 2024 Global Power Women Conference held at the Graduate Center, University of New York. In her acceptance speech, she praised Uganda’s progress in gender equality, crediting the country’s achievements to forward-thinking laws and policies. She dedicated the award to President Yoweri Museveni, the Ugandan Cabinet, and the people of Kakumiro District, her home constituency.

During her keynote address, Nabbanja emphasized the importance of empowering women, especially in the financial sector, to drive global transformation. She urged fellow women leaders to uplift one another, instead of engaging in counterproductive rivalries and differences.

She also called on world leaders to abolish discriminatory legal frameworks that hinder women’s empowerment, stressing the need for continued efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable world.

The conference, themed “Advancing the Transformative Power of Technology through Women’s Lens: Shaping the Future of Business and Governance,” brought together influential women leaders from across the globe.
