Parents urged to support and involve in children’s education

Hatma Nalugwa Ssekaaya, a renowned media personality, has encouraged parents to actively support, motivate, and engage in their children’s education, emphasizing its critical role in shaping success in an era defined by industrial growth and technological advancements.

Speaking during the 15th graduation ceremony of Kings Schools on Sunday, where Top Class academic certificates were awarded, Ssekaaya highlighted the importance of parental involvement in collaboration with schools to ensure children thrive and she applauded Kings Schools for fostering a holistic education approach that balances academics with extracurricular activities.

“A child might not excel in class but could shine in other co-curricular activities. Parents, please support them,” she urged.

Ssekaaya also commended the school’s administration for its vision and dedication in transforming the institution encouraging them to continue equipping graduates with the tools they need to succeed.

“Education is a treasure that no one can take away from you. Embrace learning with open hearts, curiosity, and dedication. Be kind, bold in the face of challenges, and always strive to do your best,” she advised the graduates.

On fostering global citizens Joseph Kiggundu, the school’s director, emphasized the institution’s commitment to not only academic excellence but also nurturing learners into global citizens with purpose.

“We believe in exposing learners to diverse environments and people to enhance their confidence and global competitiveness. Interacting with different communities is vital, and we will continue prioritizing this for the benefit of our children,” Kiggundu stated.

On prioritizing integrity he noted that the school has also prioritized instilling integrity in learners through dedicated programs and clubs that promote truthfulness, honesty, transparency, and accountability.

“We have chosen to invest in integrity, as its loss is evident worldwide. Through our social programs and integrity club, we nurture students to grow with these essential values,” he explained.

In response to global issues like climate change, he revealed that the school has introduced students to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to prepare them to reshape the world positively and he called upon parents to partner with the school in grooming children who can make a meaningful global impact.

Expressing their gratitude and achievements, In a heartfelt speech by the Top Class students they expressed gratitude to their parents, guardians, and teachers for their unwavering support and thanked the school for guiding them during their formative years.

A total of 119 learners graduated during the ceremony held at the school premises in Najjanankumbi, Wakiso District.
