Oil and Gas: First Parts of CNOOC’s Oil Rigs Arrive in Kingfisher

Parts of the oil rig belonging to the China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) on Monday arrived in the Kingfisher Oil Development Area.

The land rig LR8001, which was shipped from Yantai Port in China in July, arrived last week at the Kenyan port,

On Monday CNOOC announced that the rig has started to be shipped in.

“Shipments of the drilling rig have started arriving at the Kingfisher oilfield in Kikuube District,” they said 

They added that 18 containers will be delivered daily for the coming 3 weeks. “The journey to first oil is in full force,” the statement adds

Chen Zhuobiao, President of CNOOC Uganda Limited, last week said that the whole set of equipment supports the integrated operation of various wellbore and well types, and during the operation effectively protects the regional ecological environment.
