NUP Announces A Drive to Raise Funds for Taking Care of Over 137 Children of Abductees

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has on Monday October 3, announced their plans of establishing an education fund for over 137 children whose future remains uncertain after government having held their care takers in illegal detentions.NUP was holding its weekly presser at their headquarters in Kamwokya where they aligned families of those that were allegedly abducted and others in incommunicado to raise their voices in calling out for the demand and release of all political prisoners.

These who were holding placards of images of their missing relatives were standing besides the NUP General Secretary David Louis Rubongoya who noted that this call remains significant having over stretched their muscles and now need a hand to help support these families and especially the children.

“The demands have increasingly become huge, as NUP we have done our best but its only right that our people are released because then theycan fetch for their families,” Rubongoya said.

Adding however that they were grateful that some individuals were helping pay school fees for some of these children and encourage all those with the ability to assist to join in.

NUP president Robert kyagulanyi also rallied especially the international community to conitinue asserting pressure on the government and hold the leaders accountable for the gross human rights violation.

In this he noted that the children and voices of these stranded families were evident that a lot of human violations were happening in Uganda and that it was just a small portion of those affected have had the confidence that come out and demand there people.

Kyagulanyi says that thousands of more Ugandans were and continue to be abducted while others were killed on spot and others disappearing which he says tatamounts to act of terror.

“We are here once again to reassert our voices and tell Museveni and his fellow criminals to bring back our people. You cowards should also come after me since almost half a million people died on my behalf,” Kyagulanyi noted.

The government had through the minister of internal affairs jeje odongconfirmed to the nation that some of these NUP supporters were under their custody and that they were going to face a fair trails which Kyagulanyi said has never happened since then.

Kyagulanyi adds that even their efforts to hold physical protests have long been frustrated and so were those online saying that it was about time that religious leaders to also took a stand and be the voice of the community.

“You are telling us to be peaceful but are you really honest, can yoube at peace when you are not free or any of these kids, be honest and speak the truth. The most respected leaders stood at the side of thepeople,” Kyagulanyi said.

Adding that many people have lost faith and don’t believe in religion anymore and thus time to retrieve our deginity.

Since last week NUP led by their president have been running a campaign that aims at amplifying the voices of their missing supporters on different social media platforms images of different people who were allegedly abducted by the government and have been missing for some reasonable time were posted using the #tag Bring Back Our People, who they said have also been carried into the numberless vechcles know as the drones of recent.
