Drama as councilors locks Town clerk out of office in Namisindwa.

NAMISINDWA: Tension is brewing in Bubutu Town council, Namisindwa District after councilors on Wednesday stormed the town council headquarters and locked the town clerk, Ronald Nakhaima out of office.

Led by the Bubutu Town Council LC3 Chairperson, Mr. Moses Mudambo Wayila accused the town clerk of alleged corruption.

Mr. Mudambo blames the town clerk for commissioning the projects without notifying the town council political leadership.

We want him to go because of corruption, incompetence, not allowing the council meetings to take place and poor interpersonal relationship with others,” Mr. Madambo said.

Mr. Mudambo told Bugisu intellectual forum that there’s a big problem at the town council calling for investigations.

The town clerk Locked the office from 7th/2/2022 up to now causing poor service delivery to the people of Bubutu Town council. The mayor accused the town clerk of conniving with other politicians to do everything,” he said.

He added that the town clerk has failed to manage the affairs of the town council.

“We have repeatedly tried to contact the office of the Chief Administrative Officer to intervene into the matter but it has not been successful,” Mudambo said.

However, when we contacted the town clerk, declined to comment on the matter, saying he’s not allowed to speak to the media. He referred this reporter to the CAO.

The councilors armed with brandished placards and chanted war songs demanding the immediate transfer of the town clerk.
