My administration will prioritize Climate Change, Security, Peace, and fundamental reforms in healthcare – William Ruto.

Dr. William Ruto the newly inaugurated president of Kenya revealed that his administration is to prioritize Climate Change because the consequences make women, men, youth, and local communities suffer greatly.

“It is not too late to respond and tackle this threat… We must act urgently to keep global heating levels low, help those in need, and end addiction to fossil fuels” Ruto articulated.

Ruto made these remarks at the historic Kasarani stadium in Nairobi on Tuesday after being sworn in as the 5th president of the republic of Kenya.

Speaking in front of thousands, Ruto noted that Kenya is currently on a transition to clean energy that will support clean jobs, local economies, and sustainable industrialization and he pledged that his administration will continue to lead this endeavor by reaffirming the commitment to a 100% clean energy transition by 2030.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader also pledged their full support for the COP Summit in Egypt this November emphasizing that Africa has the opportunity to lead the world in the 100% clean energy transition because of its immense potential for renewable energy.

On the issue of health care, Ruto highlighted that his administration is ready to work with global partners to fight pandemics and other health emergencies plus also reforming the National Health Insurance Fund to make it a social health insurance provider.

“We are committed to promoting Kenya’s vigilance and efficiency in responding to emerging public health challenges and we are ready to play our role in the collective efforts to keep the public safe” Ruto added.

Kenya’s first citizen also made a commitment that his country will continue to be a dedicated partner to peace, security, and prosperity in the East African region and it looks forward to deepening the integration.

“Kenya is not only fully committed to the implementation of the of the East African Community (EAC) treaty and its protocols of free movement of people, goods and services but also to the full actualization of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area” he emphasized.

The fountain of honor also highlighted that their immediate agenda will be on creating a favorable business and enterprise environment, decriminalizing livelihoods, and supporting people in the informal sector to organize themselves into viable and creditworthy business entities.

“We will work with county governments to create frameworks that provide secure trading places in cities and towns” he emphasized.

As indicated in their manifesto, the president also noted that they will soon implement the “Hustler Fund” which will be dedicated to the capitalization of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises through chamas, SACCOs, and Cooperatives to make credit available on affordable terms that don’t require collateral.

In tackling unemployment amongst the youth, the chief hustler said that creating more jobs is also their priority and they are to roll out their social and affordable low-cost housing program targeting over 200,000 units which they hope will create opportunities in the entire job market.

The president also hinted at their government giving priority to the expeditious resolution of the pending bills such that it can meet its obligations to facilitate a better economic performance.

Confident Ruto amongst others promised an urgent and decisive resolution to the increasingly unaffordable prices of food and transport plus fertilizers and also issued instructions for clearing all goods at the port of Mombasa.

The president also hailed the judiciary, religious community, security, and the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission for the courage to do the right thing under exceptionally challenging circumstances.

In that gesture, 55-year-old Ruto acknowledged that very afternoon he is going to appoint the 6 judges of the court of appeal that were nominated three years ago so that they can get on with the business of serving the people of Kenya.

The inauguration of William Ruto that happened on the first Tuesday after the Supreme Court sealed his election was graced by the presence of several heads of state in the region including Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Samia Suluhu of Tanzania, Ahmed Abiy of Ethiopia, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Felix Tshinsekedi of DRC, Salva Kiir of South Sudan amongst others.

A presidential term in Kenya is five years and according to their constitution, an individual is entitled to only two terms.
