President Yoweri Museveni has advised Ugandans to always avoid evil and believe in God if they want to have a smooth landing.
“My advice to you all is that always avoid evil. Believe in God, and do your best. God will reward you. Gen Elly Tumwine was resilient,” he said
He made these remarks while speaking at the National prayers of the deceased former security minister, Gen Elly Tumwine who died on Thursday last week.
Museveni also asked Ugandans to emulate the late General who he said had completed his duty.
“If God wanted us to be in heaven, why did he bring us here? He brought us to do something, at least to improve something,” he said adding,
“What you do on earth really matters. Gen Elly Tumwine was resilient, patriotic, young, dying at 68,”
He also bashed those who abuse the fallen General.
“People who are attacking Gen Elly Tumwine are wasting their time. Gen. Tumwine has accomplished so much…Tumwine is here and is still with us,” he said
“I express on behalf of the NRM, the UPDF, and the country, condolences to the family of Gen Elly Tumwine. Gen was a resilient man. He was injured but he came back. That spirit of patriotism &sacrifice is what the youth need to embrace,”
Consoling Gen Elly Tumwine’s Wife, first lady Janet Museveni said,
“I lost my father at 7 years and I can understand the emptiness of a home without a father, but since I found Jesus, I know there’s a father that will never die. I have no doubt that you will manage because of that father that u know,”
