Museveni Promotes His Son Muhoozi to Full General Rank, A Day After Threatening to Capture Nairobi

President Yoweri Museveni has promoted the Commander of the Land Forces Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to the rank of full General.

Museveni, who is also the Commander in Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces has also dropped Muhoozi from his current position.

“Lieutenant General Muhoozi Kainerugaba promoted to General and continues with duties as Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations,” UPDF spokesperson said in a press statement.

Muhoozi’s promotion come a day after he threatened to capture Nairobi.He on his Twitter handle said that it would take him and his army two weeks to capture Nairobi a statement that angered Kenyans.

Museveni also promoted Maj. Gen. Muhanga Kayanja to a Lieutenant General and appointed Commander Land Forces.

Muhoozi’s promotion also come at a period when he has intensified his efforts of standing for Uganda’s presidency.

“The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and UPDF fraternity congratulate the General Officers upon their well-deserved promotions and appointments,” UPDF added.
