Museveni Fires Railway Corporation Bosses over Funds Mismanagement, Incompetence

President Museveni has fired the bosses of the Uganda Railway Corporation (URC)

Museveni, in the October 3, letter seen by this website, directed Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala the Minister of Works and Transport to disband the entire URC Board and Managing Director who he says is unqualified, inexperienced, and was irregularly recruited as a result of influence by a board member Ben Twodo .

Their sacking come a few months after the Parliament Committee of COSASE recommended the sparking of these Bosses after they established gross management of the railway.

The Committee also established that the Board together with the director had given out the URC land to local investors fraudulently and in addition procured very large locomotives.

In the same letter, the President directed the prosecution of all people who participated in the purchase of 04 used locomotives at Shs48Bn
Museveni, in the same development directed that those involved in the payment of Shs1.2Bn to a law firm Kituuma Magala for purportedly representing URC in court be prosecuted.

Early this year, the President tasked the State House Anti-corruption Unit to investigate corruption-related allegations at URC.
