A section of journalists operating in greater Mukono districts have accused Derick Kaddu for swindling their facilitation.

The said facilitation amounting to Shs500,000 had reportedly been given to Kaddu to give Journalists who operate in the districts of  Mukono, Kayunga, Buikwe and Buvuma, during the installation of Bishop Enos Kagodo of Mukono Diocese.

These passed their complaint through a lengthy petition to Mr. Herbart Batamye, the Chairperson of the Bishop Kagodo installation organizing committee.

“This is to bring to your kind knowledge the matter regarding the unscrupulous behaviors of the diocesan communications officer, Mub. Derrick Kaddu against the media fraternity in Greater Mukono and Kampala,” reads part of the petition.

“This complaint relates to the most recent behavior incident which happened during the installation of the new Bishop, The Right Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo on February 26, this year. We were reliably informed by the organisers that about Shillings 500, 000 was released to cater for the tokens of journalists from different media houses after the event,” it adds.

These as well accused the communications officer for continuously disappearing with their transport allowances each time they are invited to a function at the Diocese.

The Journalist’s letter follows the alleged disappearance of Mr. Derrick Kaddu with Ugx 500,000 meant for their facilitation, leaving all Mukono scribes angry during the installation of the 5th Bishop of Mukono Diocese Enos Kitto Kagodo.

Kaddu who also doubles as the chaplain at Seeta Junior School is also accused of being disrespectful while communicating to journalists.

They now want the Administration of the diocese to immediately punish Kaddu and suspend him from the communication office since he mistreats and allegedly takes their facilitation.

More than twenty two journalists within the area signed the document. Kaddu, in an interview with this website said he is not bothered by the allegations and that he is not supposed to satisfy every human being in this world.

Complaint Regarding the Unscrupulous Behaviors of Mukono Diocese Communications Officer (Mub. Derrick Kaddu)

This is to bring to your kind knowledge the matter regarding the unscrupulous behaviors of the diocesan communications officer, Mub. Derrick Kaddu against the media fraternity in Greater Mukono and Kampala.

This complaint relates to the most recent behavior incident which happened during the installation of the new Bishop, The Right Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo on February 26, this year. We were reliably informed by the organisers that about Shillings 500, 000 was released to cater for the tokens of journalists from different media houses after the event.

During the course of the event, Mub. Kaddu sent his personal assistant-PA a one Rebecca and registered all the journalists who worked on that day. They all wrote their names, contact and as well appended signature.

However, at the end of the event Mub. Kaddu instructed all the journalists to meet him at the diocesan communications office where they all went and waited for over three hours in vain. They later learned that he had disappeared to an unknown destination.

Alas enough, when contacted by some of the organisers who included, Rev. Edward Muyomba, Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga and the Chairperson, Herbart Batamye, Mub. Kaddu responded on a telephone that the complaining journalists were pseudo, who had not participated in covering of the event but planned to profit from the event.

We are concerned about the Lord’s servant profiteering from a religious driven institution, it demoralizes us as the journalists who are always committed to serve the diocese in the field of communication.

Our Previous Working Relationship.

This is also to bring to your attention that previously we have been working on various programs of the diocese that deserve publicity after a hard search to know about them.

On several occasions we could be forced to directly contact the Bishop Emeritus to secure space for interviews after failing to directly deal with Mub. Kaddu arrogant response, delayed picking of telephone calls and sometimes not completely picking.

On several occasions, Mub. Kaddu has been organizing press conferences at the diocese and prefers sending the transportation allowances to participants on telephones. This gives him a chance to send less of what he always asks for from the finance department.

Besides organizing events at the diocese, he has always signed money on behalf of journalists at different events outside the diocesan jurisdictions and taken off with it.

It is easy for the different institutions to trust him despite being a lay reader but end up doing otherwise. This has been creating fights, quarrels and misunderstandings between him and journalists. On the other hand, Mub. Kaddu participates directly in political parties’ activities which paints the diocese as partisan.

On this matter we come in good faith for the good image of the diocese to request for reexamination of the diocesan communications office, and investigate the behavioral conduct of Mub. Kaddu and also draw a proper communication channel that will see a better working environment between the media and the diocese in this new era of Bishop Kagodo.

We shall be grateful once our concern is handled in good faith and the fraternity further engaged on the matter. Attached is the list of some of the journalists endorsing the petition.

Efforts to get a comment from Kaddu were futile as his known numbers were off by press time.
