Mubajje, Kasaija Hold Talks


The Minister of Finance, and Economic Planning Hon. Matia Kasaija has paid a courtesy call to His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council headquarters at old Kampala.

Upon his arrival at old Kampala Thursday morning, the Mufti took the minister on a guided tour around the UMSC Headquarters complex. He witnessed the ongoing restoration works of the entire complex including the Offices, Conference Hall, Library, national mosque, Radio Bilal, and UMSC-based Tailoring and Vocational Training Centre where he interacted with over one hundred female trainees and pledged to offer financial support once they form a Sacco.

He also toured the Islamic Call University College lecture block that is still under construction.

The Mufti and his guest held a meeting attended by His Eminence Sheikh Abdallah Ibrahim Ssemambo Tamusuza, the deputy Mufti of Uganda, His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the second deputy Mufti, Hon Secretary General Ramathan Mugalu, and Haj. Isah Shaban the Secretary for Finance and planning and selected heads of departments discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest to both sides.

Shortly after the meeting, the Minister described the visit as an eye-opener.

“This has been an eye-opener to me because this is my first time to be here and I am grateful to His Eminence the Mufti and his administration for the great work they are doing here.

So, now I am in a position to tell other stakeholders what exactly is taking place,” Hon Kasaija told the media before departure.
