Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, has urged Muslim parents to make every effort to teach their children the Holy Quran.
This message was a highlight of his inspiring speech delivered at the grand finale of the Holy Quran Recitation, Friday sermons, and Adhan competitions for primary schools organized by Radio Bilal, a UMSC-based initiative, held at the UMSC conference hall on Friday, April 5th, 2024.
The Mufti further advised the numerous participants, including parents, to recognize the esteemed position of the Holy Quran as the foundation of Islamic faith, as guaranteed by Almighty Allah.
He quoted the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, emphasizing the significance of learning the Holy Quran and subsequently teaching it to others.
He also commended Radio Bilal management, led by Haj Abdallah Monday, for organizing the competition as an annual event during the Holy Month of Ramadhan. Earlier, Sheikh Imran Ssali, Secretary Incharge of Religious Affairs, expressed gratitude to the Mufti for prioritizing the Holy Quran competitions over other events, as he consistently demonstrates by attending as the Chief Guest for the past nine years since its inception.
This year’s competition attracted 18 primary schools, with twelve-year-old pupil Abdu-Karim Baryomunsi being recognized as one of the overall winners in Holy Quran Recitation. Sheikh Mubaje later presented him with a certificate, solar panels, and a cash prize.
In attendance was Dr. Sheikh Ziyad Swaleh Lubanga, the Director of Sharia, and members of the UMSC staff.
