Police in Mbale is currently holding a yet to be identified man who reportedly raped a girl he had promised to take aborad and find her a job.
The victim (names withheld) told police officers at Namatala Police station in Mbale City that the suspect hoodwinked her that he would get her a job that can pay her up to Shs400,000 a month before raping her.
“We started as friends and sometime I would give him the money but after a while he disappeared and later called me to come to Mbale in a place called Bugembe where he raped me from,” she said.
His arrest came after the Police in Mbale in collaboration with an Anti-Human Trafficking Organization project rescue children swung in action to hunt for him after a case of Rape was reported at Namatala police station on ref CRR 080/24.
The Officer in-charge of Namatala Police Station Steven Kirya confirmed this incident noting that they are holding the suspect as investigation continues.
