A section of residents in Mbale City have attributed the ongoing security crackdowns on criminals on negative media reports.
For several months now, residents in different parts of the City have been living in fear due to insecurity perpetrated by youth gangs.
A special Report by DaParrot on Wednesday revealed how the Youths had takwn over the City.
Fews hours after the publication of the report, Ahamada Washaki the Mbale Resident City Commissioner released photos of criminals that had been arrested.

“Ongoing security meetings yielding results,” he captioned some of the photos.
On Friday morning Washaki once again announced that that had arrested 82 a section of youth gangs from dark spots of the City.
This, he said was done as part of the on going operation to clean the City of thugs.
“Areas of Half London, City Center, Mooni, Senior Quarters, Nkokonjeru Terrace, were combed last night,” he said adding,
“Thanks to the RPC Elgon, SSP Otim, Zonal Commander UPDF, Lt Col Luyima, DPC CPS, SP Samuel Abbed Aliria, Lt rtd Siraji Lubwama, UPDF IOs and teams for implementing the CSC resolutions,”
However residents that Daparrot spoke to randomly across the City centre and out skirts attributed the intensified operations on negative media reports about Mbale’s security.
“Washaki has made a name in security, so seeing these youths terrorizing locales and being all over in media made him to beef up security,” said Muzamir a hawker in the City,
“We had cried but in vain, thanks that now the operations have started,” said Sharon a UCU student in Mbale Campus.
Residents whom DaParrot spoke to also lauded the City leadership for the gesture that is aimed at helping them live in a peaceful manner.
Washaki also in a mini statement thanked the Wanainchi (locals) for the support and giving vital information to our security forces.
“Screening is going to take place to pick out the notorious thugs on the wanted list.
Together we shall make Mbale City Crime free,”
