Mbale Floods Havoc: 800 Displaced Families Get Food Relief

Following the floods which hit Mbale on Sunday and left over 800 families affected and over 20 people dead the government through the office of the prime minister has delivered 60 tonnes of food to the victims in Mbale district and Mbale city,

Of the 60 tans, there are 20 tonnes of maize and 10 tonnes of food for each party as specified by the Authorities,

Brig. Gen. James Kinalwa, the Head of Emergency Coordination Center under the Office of the Prime Minister said that they couldn’t wait for a report about the number of people who were affected by the floods instead the resolved and the food be distributed as the report is being compiled,

Kinalwa said the office of the prime minister managed to get 40 tonnes of maize and 20 tonnes of beans at the start for both Mbale city and district,

He added that the office is working hard to see that more items are delivered and people are settled,

Asumani Nasike the Resident District Commissioner of Mbale district, while flagging off the food at Mbale district headquarters cautioned every person not to involve in stealing food meant for the Victims because they will be arrested.

Mutwalibu Mafabi the LC 5 Chairperson Mbale assured the public that no one will divert the food that the government has given to the people of Mbale.

Ahamada Washaki the RCC Mbale city refuted the allegations that the president gave only three hundred thousand to the family of the deceased but instead confirmed that the president gave 5million to each family which lost their relative.
