Rotarians have kick-started a maternal village ambulance project to aid easy access to maternal health services nationally.
The project that seeks to initially give out 300 tricycle ambulances has seen so far procurement of 243 ambulances awaiting allocation first with villages within districts of Kabarole, Isingiro, Kabale, and Wakiso Districts.
While she launched the project, Rotary International President Dr. Jennifer Jones credited Rotarians for continuously impacting change to services access.
“Ambulances will help us to ensure that we don’t lose more lives. We need to care for everyone and ensure that no one Dies we want everyone to get a good life,” she said adding that the ambulances will empower villages and transform people’s projects.

The ambulances were purchased by the Rotary Clubs of Entebbe and Bwebaja as part of the initiative that targets to cover the whole country
Dr. Jones lauded the government for its deliberate policy of ensuring that Rotarians do their projects without barriers.

“We cannot do without the power of partnership, MoH, USAID, WHO among others coming together on the same project is a good initiative. We as Rotarians work by the best of government in to help us in partnerships,” she said.
