The National Unity Platform (NUP) has unveiled a State of Art Multi-billion New Offices.

The home which is located in Makerere Kavule along Bombo road in Kawempe division will sit on a Shs5Bn half acre land.

Speaking to journalists during the groundbreaking at the party headquarters on Tuesday this week, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine the Party President said that they decided to move away from their home in Kamwokya, which was too small for some party activities.

“We are doing this to show that even though this idea started with me, it is not mine alone. This is now your home. It is the headquarters of the incoming government,” he said.

He said that the new office is intended to set them aside from the National Resistance Movement, which after 35 years in power has not been able to construct its own national office.

“Like the leader of the opposition has told you, our brothers after 36 years of stealing tax payer’s money, are not only still renting about also owing lots of money to their landlord,” he said. “

This comes at a point when NUP, the largest opposition party has been under public scrutiny on the issue of accountability.

Some party members and funders from abroad have been questioning how the money is spent in the party especially that was collected during the presidential elections.

NUP currently receives over Shs3.5Bn from the government as part of the funding for all political organizations.

The party has however on several occasions refused to join IPOD, questioning its integrity and the objectives, where NUP leadership views it as President Museveni’s forum.

Speaking at the conference, Mathias Mpuuga, the Leader of Opposition said,

“NUP now has a permanent home, and the people of Uganda know that our struggle is a permanent struggle for restoring sanity and a sense of permanent democracy in Uganda,”

Joel Ssenyonyi, the party General Secretary also said.

“Today, we are here to do the groundbreaking led by our President and also show you the architectural plan with the photographic interpretation of what the structure we want to have will look like.”
