Uganda’s marathon champion ,Jacob kiplimo has set another record in the men’s half marathon World Record at the 2025 Barcelona Half Marathon, a World Athletics Gold Label road race.
Kiplimo’s time smashed the previous mark of 57:30 set by Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha at the 2024 Valencia Half Marathon in October.With the current record of running 56:42 he has made.
An average time of 48 second has been dropped and is the largest improvement in the record’s progression.
Kiplimo had previously held the World Record in the event (57:31) from November 2021 – October 2024 before being surpassed by Yomif Kejelcha in the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships.
Individual title in Belgrade last March. He is an Olympic bronze medalist (Tokyo 2020, 10,000m) and World Championships bronze medalist (Eugene 2022, 10,000m).
