Three people including two ladies and one gent have lost their lives on the spot in a fatal crash that took place at Myanzi Trading Centre in Kasanda District along the Mubende-Mityana highway.
The deceased have been identified as Grace Nambusi Grace aged 40 years old a resident of Kikajo, Namasuba, Wakiso District, Patrick Bright aged 34 years old, a business person residing in Kibiri-Busabaala, Wakiso District and Lydia Nadunga aged 42 years old, a businesswoman residing in Kalerwe.
The Wamala Region police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said the crash took place, around 03:00 am. Three people she said sustained injuries.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that a black Fuso Fighter motor vehicle, registration UAY 415C, loaded with matooke and heading towards Kampala from Mubende, experienced a brake failure. The vehicle lost control and overturned, resulting in the instantaneous death of four occupants and injuring three,”
“The injured have been taken to Mityana Hospital for necessary medical care. Police have thoroughly documented and examined the scene of the incident. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Kassanda Health Center IV mortuary, awaiting postmortem examinations,” he added.
The motor vehicle involved has been towed to Myanzi Police Station pending an Inspection of Vehicles (IOV) assessment.
