First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister-in-charge of East African Affairs Hon Rebecca Kadaga has called for the mass sensitization of the East African Community (EAC) if member states are to achieve the objectives of its formation.

Kadaga, who was speaking to students and management of Makerere University Council, said that in some member states the cooperation is only at the top and so there is urgency in sensitizing bottom cadres too.

According to Kadaga, members like those in the police force enforce their national laws and practices strictly to member citizens and totally forget about the East African community therefore parties like this and more need to be sensitized.

“I was given a simplified book for cross-border traders for ordinary Ugandans and Kenyans in Arusha and I believe with this we are fulfilling our duty on sensitization though it still a long journey” Kadaga added.
