Agritech entrepreneur and Jaguza Farm CEO Ronald Katamba will next week on Friday, August 2, deliver a public lecture to the Ugandan North America Association (UNAA) Convention and Trade Expo.

The Convention and Trade Expo will be held in San Francisco between September 2 and 5 at the Hilton San Francisco – Union Square,

In the April 27 letter, addressed to Katamba by Henrietta N. Wamala, the CEO and President of UNAA, and obtained by this news website, he will be delivering a lecture to Ugandans on how they can safely invest in Agriculture, without fail, about Jaguza farm.

Jaguza livestock system is where innovators are using technology to create a positive impact in agriculture.

“At Jaguza farm, we think technology can make a real impact. Jaguza learns patterns about a cow’s movements from a wearable sensor. We use this data to develop machine learning models and Tensor Flow algorithm, and ultimately, Jaguza can detect activities from eating, drinking, resting, fertility, temperature, and more,” Katamba said adding,

“It’s not just tracking this information, though. We use the Jaguza system to predict problems earlier, detecting cases like lameness or digestive disorders hence providing recommendations to farmers on how to keep their cows healthy and improve the efficiency of their farms. Using these insights, we’re already seeing a 36% increase in livestock production on our customers’ farms,”

According to Katamba, the project creates livestock datasets for disease identification, geospatial epidemiological modeling, and rapid point-of-care diagnostics in low-resourced rural remote areas.

“The datasets unlock research for the livestock sector and reduce the cost of access to accurate infield diagnosis with model deployment to mobile smartphones,” he said adding,

“This creates opportunities for mass livestock screening even in the most remote herding regions that are severely limited by costly cold chain logistics to highly capable laboratories. In addition, the datasets of geotagged and evnert-laholled symptomatic,”

According to Wamala, the UNAA program line-up offers an opportunity for Mr. Ronald Katamba an opportunity to come and present at our Trade and Investment Forum on Friday, September 2nd, 2022 at 14:30pm, on Jaguza products and services that can be provided to the Diaspora.

As the official Guest Speaker, Wamala said that “it gives me great pleasure to formally invite you to join us this Labor Day weekend at this year’s 34th Annual UNAA Convention & Trade Expo from September 2ND-5, September 2022 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square, located at 333 O’Farrell Street, San Francisco, CA 94102-2116,”

The Convention will run under the theme; Recovery Beyond the Pandemic: Embracing New Opportunities for a Greater Diaspora”

Wamala said that this theme will explore and honor the stories of heroism and survival that have kept our communities standing strong through the COVID-19 Pandemic and also the opportunities that have presented post covid pandemic.

“UNAA is the largest non-political formal association of Ugandans in the Diaspora and serves a Ugandan community of over 500,000 people in the United States and Canada,” she said adding,

The invitation comes a few months after he (Katamba) through his Afrosoft IT Solution, developed the UNAA App, which acts as a uniform platform for all UNAA members.

Wamala, last week said that the App will not only bring together Ugandans living in North America and provide a platform on which they can network, share & experience Ugandan culture and the abundant opportunities of our new home, but also ease the organization of the Convention.

“On the app, we have a Community Module that allows users to post videos or photos and share ideas with the UNAA community to allow interaction with people. It also has a group such as Fashion, Technology, Culture where anyone interested can join and interact with other group members,” Wamala explained.

“The app also on the other hand shows information about the current president and other UNAA leaders and be in a position to connect with them when needed,” Wamala added.

“We look forward to seeing you in the city of San Francisco! Sincerely, Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) +1 (630) 202-8138 | president@unaaonline.org,” Wamala told Katamba in a letter.
