His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Ramadan Mubajje has shown his dissatisfaction with the act of celebrating people’s death terming it as an act of being inhumane.
Mubajje who was delivering his eulogy at the late Hajji Khamis Kiwanuka’s funeral at Bakijululu in Kalingu notes that it has rather become a popular norm that Ugandans now celebrate the death of fellow humans with justifications of avenging their acts before death.
He said ” it’s now no secret that Ugandans celebrate the death of others, death should not be considered as a punishment that’s served to those that seem guilty. This is everyone’s abode at the end of the day.”
Mubajje then emphasized that it’s no use to talk I’ll about the dead since their final destination is already in God’s hands.
The Mufti also reminded Ugandans that it was not ethical for those who attend funerals to use the platform as a basis for conveying their political messages while attacking their opponents as well.
He urged therefore that this was a very respectable accession and thus ought to be treated as such. Following the death of General Elly Tumwine last month, many social media platforms were a wash of all kinds of messages including among others mockery, insulting, and irony which many leaders felt were uncalled for and deserved condemning.
This event induced the family into issuing a public apology to those that felt hurt by the deceased and settle for the peace others present included Deputy Mufti Sh. Abdullah Ssemambo, Sh.Bardru Wasajja Kiruta.
The District Khad Masaka and Sh.Juma Mawejje also defined the late as a very honorable man who was committed and served his people.
