The war in Palestine is no longer a Moslem war, Dr. Adam Ssebyala

Irrespective of Palestine being an Islamic state, AlMustafah University Lecturer Dr. Adam Ssebyala says the war against them is no longer a Moslem war but a war against all humanity.

While he spoke to DaParrot on the sidelines of commemorating the International Quds day, Ssebyal expressed his concern about the Palestine war being afflicted to the Islamic faith.

When an issue is declared international, it seizes to be a personal matter based on language, culture or any ideological difference, the matter then calls for the interventions of the entire world,” he said adding that “not even at the wake of the pandemic when every nation was looking forward to survival, the Palestine nationals were denied relief by their tormentors and many of their lives were claimed.

Ssebyala urges that negotiations in all forms were the better way to solve the mayhem noting that all forms of violation are no longer solutions but an addition to criminality.

He said, therefore, that coming together as a whole, sharing ideas, and calling out on the actions of Israel is what will be making the international Quds day the best alternative.

He added that since its inception the day has made a remarkable impact as counties like the United Kingdom, Uganda, Afghanistan, and Iraq among others have joined the cause making it harder for Israel to hold for long.

Quds is an Arabic or Persian word for Jerusalem, one of the oldest and holiest cities in the world, the International Quds day, therefore, is an annual event held every last Friday of Ramadhan as initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979 with the essence of expressing support for the Palestinians and oppose Zionism and Israel.

On this day Alkhomenin declared the liberation of Jerusalem a religious duty to all Muslims he said in his inaugural speech.

I invite Muslims all over the globe to consecrate the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadhan as the international Quds day and proclaim the international solidarity of Muslims in support of legitimate rights of the Muslim people of Palestine,” he said.

On this day, Muslims worldwide unite in solidarity against Israel and in support of Palestine, protesting against the Israel occupation of east Jerusalem.

In this regard, protests are held in various cities of the world by both Muslims and non-Muslim communities as evidenced in 2018 when over 3000 people went on the streets in London, and over 18 cities in the US joined in the celebration of this day.

Alhaj Aziizi Sennogga Ramuzade, the grand mentor of UBUNTU National Initiative, this year’s organizer in partnership with Makerere Moslem Students Association also noted that in this modern-day and age, Palestine was the only nationals that are still under captivity and that this Initiative is timely as the narrative had shifted to other issues like the pandemic.

And though the Universal declaration of human rights emphasizes that no Nation has a right to repress another or that no civilization can accommodate the growth of a nation at the expense of another, Uganda like any other signatories remains indebted to this agreement.

In Uganda, chapter 4 commonly referred to as the bill of rights where among others provides for the right to life (A22), personal liberty (A23), human dignity (A 24) property, freedom of expression (A 29), among others is enshrined and protected

Alhaj Tamuzade, therefore, stressed that apart from the UN declaration, Uganda’s connection reflects from way back in 1976 during the late Iddi Amin Dada’s time when the Israel nation attacked Uganda under the guise of rescuing their citizens.

The UBUNTU National Pan-African Initiative is a forum that seeks to understand and find round table solutions towards African problems as it brings together Pan Africanists, Cultural leaders, African Royals, professionals, and members of the diaspora.
