The National Drug Authority has attributed the increased number of malaria cases to substandard imported Mosquito nets.
Reports of an upsurge of malaria, have been reported in most parts of the country.
NDA, in a statement, said that it has received numerous concerns from members of the public regarding imported mosquito nets that are purportedly incapable of protecting Ugandans from malaria-carrying mosquitoes.

“NDA would like to further inform the public that mosquito nets that are privately imported and subjected to the Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVOC) program do not undergo mandatory analysis by NDA” reads part of the statement.
The Drug Authority informed the public that the Ministry of Health procures insecticide-treated mosquito nets with funding from The Global Fund.
“The consignments undergo mandatory analysis at the National Drug Quality Control Laboratory and the batches that pass are authorized for use,”
