Deputy President and UDA party Presidential candidate William Ruto are leading the Kenyan Presidential polls against Azimio La Umoja Coalition’s Raila Odinga.

According to the official Results from the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC), Ruto was by Sunday morning, leading with 3.6 million votes (51.27% against Odinga’s 3.4 million votes (48.07%) out of the 7.1 million total votes tallied by the electoral commission.

These are the latest results released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from 141 of 291 constituencies.

The winner of presidential elections needs 50% + 1 of the valid votes cast and at least 25% votes in more than 24 counties.10:20 AM.

The law requires the electoral body to undertake verification of the presidential election results and declare the president-elect within seven days and the deadline for this process is next Tuesday. “We shall endeavor to conclude this exercise at the earliest possible,” said IEBC.

IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati

Analysts say IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and his team seem determined to tally only true results. They had apparently stored photos of the real 34As from each of over 46,000 polling stations on the night of voting day and have been able to identify most of the false declaration forms.

Chebukati yesterday said all Returning Officers from all the constituencies had reported physically with the originals signed and stamped by Presiding Officers of the polling state.

We are already Victorious-Martha Karua

Addressing fellow leaders yesterday, Martha Karua the Azimio la Umoja coalition Deputy President candidate said that there is no way the tally can be against their coalition because their already tallied results are all in their favor just that they don’t have the power to announce themselves.

“If we had the power by now we would have called it for ourselves, but we will wait for the official sail of approval,” Karua added.

The 65-year-old iron lady also urged the elected candidates to be up-bit and know that Kenyans gave us the opportunity to lead the nation and they expect nothing but progress as their coalition spirit goes Azimio la Umoja.

“We must always emphasize our oneness as a nation regardless of our communities and political beliefs because that is what our coalition stands for,” Karua emphasized.

The Azimio la Umoja coalition in the August general elections was led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and it was neck to neck with the Kenya Kwanza coalition led by Deputy President Dr. William Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance party.

For those who didn’t manage to emerge as winners, Karua called them heroes who put up a fight and stood in the gap and urged them to feel greatly appreciated because they are to build a formidable nation and movement that will transform their nation with them inclusive.

The senior counsel also noted that currently the coalition has so far won 24 gubernatorial seats, 23 senators, and just short of 180 Members of Parliament when combined but she called upon them to distribute themselves to places where their strength is needed to guard their win to ensure that it is not infiltrated.

.“At Bomas let us take turns and support that process I urge you to go there and ensure that everything goes on well” she added
