Human Resources Managers’ Association Launches HRMAU Reveal Awards

The Human Resources Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU) has launched the 2021 HRMAU Reveal Awards. 

The Awards will showcase individual Human Resources: practitioners who excel in various thematic areas in their workplaces. Deloitte Uganda will manage the Awards, and the ceremony will be held in March 2022. 

The Human Resources Manager Association (HRMAU) is a professional membership body that brings together over 800 Human Resources Practitioners, academia, Community-based Human Resources, Development Partners, Private, Public and Non-Governmental Human Resource Professionals. 

Speaking at the launch, at Golden Tulip Hotel in Kampala on Monday, Hon Muruli Mukasa, the Minister of Public Service, who was representated by Fredrick Edward Walugembe the Commissioner Finance, Planning lauded HRMAU for periodically holding these Awards to recognise the best performing Human Resources professionals. 

“The development of our human resources in the country is one of the Government of Uganda’s six priority areas of our focus as we aim to transform Uganda from a predominantly peasant and low-income country to a competitive upper-middle-income country. 

This, he said is enshrined clearly in our Uganda Vision 2040. 

“I want to commend the HRMAU fraternity and all the Human Resource Practitioners on their great job in nurturing and transforming the entire human resource base in Uganda,” he said adding,

“You play a great role in ensuring employees are productive, competitive and deliver value in the different sectors of our economy,” he added

Mukasa said that the Human Resource profession, play a key role in making sure businesses support their employees and remained productive during the COVID pandemic”, said Hon Muruli Mukasa. 

In his remarks, Moses Mbu i Witta, the President of HRMAU, Mr , said that HRMAU Reveal Awards are aimed at recognising the best among Human Resources practitioners and inspiring the next generation of world-class Human Resource professionals. 

“These Awards are timely for the members to be able to celebrate those outstanding colleagues and best practices that emerged during these difficult two years of the pandemic,” he said

He added that every employer was faced with tough choices of ensuring the sustainable existence of their organisations with a heightened sense of employee safety. 

“All eyes and ears turned to the HR professional to guide the organisation on how productivity would be maintained amidst the lockdown and how employees and their families would be protected,” he said

Mbubi said that the time now is the time to recognise the gallant Human Resources practitioners who stood out during these unprecedented times.

The Awards are categorised under eight (8) thematic areas, including; 

1. Crisis Management and Response

2. Diversity & Inclusion 

3. Best Flexible Working Initiative 

4. Employee Health and Wellness Initiative 

5. HR Business Partnering 

6. Innovation, use of Technology and Digital Platforms 7. Business Transformation Leader 

8. Overall Transformational HR Leader 2021.
