City Socialite Charles Olim alias Sipapa and his wife and his wife were this weeks remanded to Luzira for robbing $429,000 (Sh1.6Bn) from a South Sudanese National in Bunga, Makindye in Kampala.
Sipapa became a prime suspect after Kabalagala police traced the phone as Stollen from the South Sudanese, taking them to his home where they found his wife Nakimbugwe, who was arrested with an exhibit f $70,000.
After being declared a wanted man, Sipapa a day later handed himself to Police with no resistance.
During an interrogation with Police, Sipapa shocked the interrogators after revealing that he knew nothing about this robbery since he deals in robbing old not these paltry few dollars.
“I have two million dollars already on my account,” he said
“Why would then I will be risking my dear life to rob merely something like 1.6bn dollars!” he asked the detectives.
Sipapa who admitted being a Robert informed interrogators that there must be a clique of his fellow robbers who had failed to break even in the trade like him and chose to implicate him.
Asked about the $70,000, Sipapa said he knew nothing about it.
The money was recovered from Sipapa’s home in Kiwatule, Najjera in Nakawa after an iPhone that had been robbed from the Dinka, helped the police detectives to lead them to the place where a 65-inch Samsung TV set, mobile phones, and other items were recovered from.
The detectives found Sipapa’s concubine at the residence and swiftly arrested her to help with the investigations.
“My opponents must have planted that little money in my home to try to implicate me,” Sipapa answered his interrogators.
